Wyatt Langford, Rookie for the Rangers, Hits for the Cycle to Start the 2024 MLB Season

This season, Texas Rangers rookie Wyatt Langford has been a standout player. On “Sunday Night Baseball,” Langford hit for the cycle in an 11-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. In the fourth inning, he hit a triple, followed by a double in the fifth and a single in the sixth. He completed the cycle with a home run in the eighth off Orioles’ pitcher Matt Krook.

Langford’s impressive performance was his first four-hit game of his major league career. With just 245 plate appearances this season, he has maintained a .260 batting average and .712 OPS. Despite missing a few weeks in May due to a hamstring injury, Langford has played in 58 games for the Rangers. His cycle was the first hit since José Altuve achieved it in August 2023 against the Boston Red Sox.

In addition to being an impressive player on the field, Langford has made history as well. He joins Oddibe McDowell as only rookies to have ever hit for the cycle in Texas Ranger franchise history. The last Ranger to accomplish this feat was Carlos Gomez in 2017. Overall, Langford’s cycle was just one of several achievements he has had this season. It was also his third home run of the year and his ninth double of the year, making him quite valuable to his teammates and fans alike.
