The Red Cross has recently sent its president to Qatar in an effort to improve respect for international humanitarian law and hold direct discussions with all parties involved in the conflict between Israel and Gaza. The main objective of this visit was to advance humanitarian issues related to the ongoing armed conflict, which has resulted in significant loss of life and hostages being taken in the Gaza Strip.

During the trip, the Red Cross president met with Ismaïl Haniyeh, head of the Hamas political bureau, to discuss ways to address these issues. As part of this broader effort, the Red Cross is also seeking permission from Israel and Hamas to visit hostages in Gaza and provide necessary medical care.

The ongoing conflict has had a significant impact on civilians living in both Israel and Gaza, leading to retaliatory attacks from Israel that have resulted in additional deaths and displacement. The Red Cross is committed to working tirelessly to address these humanitarian concerns and ensure the safety and well-being of those affected by this conflict.
