Jamestown’s Ella Propheter and her teammates celebrated their victory against West Seneca West during the Section VI Division 1 flag football game on Thursday. Despite facing some challenges in the air, the team’s performance was overall good. Ella played a significant role in the win, rushing for 61 yards, scoring a touchdown, converting two two-point conversions, and returning an interception for a 64-yard score. The Red & Green team improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the division after a 20-6 victory.
Kaylee Leeper also contributed to the team’s success by adding 61 yards on the ground, scoring a touchdown, and a one-point conversion. She also broke up five passes and had four flag pulls. Kendall Wilson led the defense with seven flag pulls, including four sacks, while Chryssa Wahl and Abbie Brandow added four flag pulls each.
The team will return to action on Monday when they face Lancaster in their next game. In the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East softball game in Forestville, it was a pitcher’s duel between the two teams. Brandon Beane, the general manager of the Buffalo Bills, joked about selecting a receiver in each of the seven rounds in the NFL draft.
