Celtic have made an official offer of £7.6m to Fenerbahce for Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic, with Ipswich Town also expressing interest in the 29-year-old player. The move comes as part of Celtic’s strategy to strengthen their title-winning squad by making experienced additions. In addition to Livakovic, Celtic have completed a couple of transfer deals which have not yet been announced, and have allocated funds for further signings.
Rangers are facing a potential delay in bringing 22-year-old forward Abdallah Sima back to Ibrox after last season’s loan, as Brighton & Hove Albion want to give their new manager time to assess the squad. Rangers are also considering the option of signing Lawrence Shankland from Heart of Midlothian to strengthen their attacking options. Shankland, a 28-year-old Scotland striker, is reportedly open to making the move to Rangers if the clubs can agree on a suitable transfer fee.
Both Rangers and Celtic seem to be following a similar transfer policy, focusing on moderately priced signings that can be developed as projects rather than immediate first-team selections, with the hope of selling for a profit in the future. In other news, Sandy Stewart, assistant manager to Owen Coyle at Chenaiyin, suggests that Scottish clubs should explore the Indian transfer market due to the improving standards driven by investments in grassroots and youth football.
