Potential Pursuit: Kamala Harris’s Options for Campaign Cash if Biden Decides Not to Run Again

Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, has emerged as a potential contender for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in 2024. With $91 million in cash available to the current campaign, according to recent filings, Harris could take over the campaign money if Joe Biden decides not to run again. However, there are some limitations to this option.

The campaign account was registered with the Federal Election Commission in both Biden and Harris’s names. Therefore, Harris could use those funds for her own presidential campaign if Biden were to drop out. Donors would need approval from the campaign team before receiving any refunds.

If neither Biden nor Harris becomes candidates, the campaign team would have to return all the money or something similar. Donors who contributed before the August convention could have their contributions earmarked for either the primary or general election. If Harris were to win, she could use these funds for her own campaign or allocate them to a super PAC or political party itself. Transferring funds to a new candidate or entity also comes with limitations.

Other options include supporting House and Senate candidates or donating to charities aligned with their views. As of now, it is unclear whether Harris will run for president in 2024; however, if she does decide to run, she will likely face competition from other Democrats who are also considering running for president.

Overall, while there may be some limitations on how Harris can use the available campaign money if Biden decides not to run again, she still has several options available to her that could help her succeed in any future political endeavors.
