A dramatic video has been released showing the moment when police rushed into a kennel filled with smoke to rescue 46 dogs in Fairfield. The incident took place on a Saturday night at a business complex on Bloomfield Avenue near Route 46.
Upon arrival, the police officers did not have any fire safety equipment but still bravely entered the Pio Costa Industrial Complex where the kennels were located. The fire that caused the smoke started in a nearby convenience and smoke shop before spreading to other businesses in the area, including the kennel.
The video shows the officers breaking through a security door to gain access to the kennels, where they quickly began searching for and rescuing the dogs. Despite not having any protective gear, they bravely entered the building and worked tirelessly to save all of the animals.
Sadly, one police officer had to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation as a result of the rescue operation. However, all 46 dogs were successfully rescued and taken to a different facility where they were checked out by a veterinarian. The quick and brave actions of the police officers ensured that all the animals were safe and out of harm’s way.
