Pogacar secures exciting stage-four victory to reclaim Tour de France lead

Pogacar secured his 12th Tour de France stage victory by winning stage four of the race in a thrilling fashion. He also regained the coveted yellow jersey as he raced ahead to claim the win.

This stage marked the first significant mountain stage of this year’s Tour de France, with general classification contenders wary of UAE Team Emirates making a strong statement to challenge for the title. The team delivered on their promise as they attacked near the top of the demanding climb up the Col du Galibier, dropping overnight leader Richard Carapaz in the process.

The two-time Tour de France champion, Pogacar, further solidified his lead during the descent towards the finish line in Valloire, crossing it 35 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Remco Evenepoel. Vingegaard finished fifth, two seconds after Evenepoel.

As a result of his stage win, Pogacar now leads Evenepoel in the overall general classification standings by 45 seconds, with Vingegaard trailing five seconds behind in third place. The race for the yellow jersey promises to be intense as the Tour progresses.
