In October, a Westmoreland County gun store owner was investigated after multiple customers reported not receiving their firearms or payment for them. Tracey McMahan, owner of Hi Grade Shooting Supply, is now facing charges for theft and receiving stolen property.
The investigation began when a victim contacted detectives, claiming that they paid McMahan $4,600 for a combo shotgun but never received the gun or a refund. The district attorney’s office said McMahan provided excuses such as the firearm being lost in shipping or damaged before stopping communication with the customer.
Another victim reported similar circumstances to detectives, saying that they tried to sell a Beretta shotgun to McMahan’s business on consignment for $3,500 but never received the funds. The district attorney’s office said that additional charges were filed by Pennsylvania State Police against McMahan.
Court documents show that she was also charged with theft by deception. She was arraigned and released on $50,000 unsecured bond. The Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office is continuing to investigate the matter further.
