Passing the Torch: Ottawa County Department of Public Health Sees Major Staffing Change with Deputy Health Officer Marcia Mansaray’s Retirement and Lisa Uganski’s Promotion

The Ottawa County Department of Public Health (OCDPH) in Michigan has announced a major staffing change that will take place at the end of May. Deputy Health Officer Marcia Mansaray, who has been with OCDPH for nearly 20 years, will retire on May 31, 2024.

Mansaray began her career as a health promotion specialist in 2006 and held several positions within the department before becoming the deputy health officer in 2020. During her tenure, she played a key role in leading the department and community through the COVID-19 pandemic. Her service and leadership have been praised by Health Officer Adeline Hambley, who expressed sadness at Mansaray’s retirement but is looking forward to Uganski stepping into the role of deputy health officer.

Lisa Uganski, who is currently the department’s Health Planning and Promotion Manager, will assume the role of deputy health officer starting June 3. Uganski has been with OCDPH since 2000 when she started as a registered dietitian and health educator. She has expressed excitement about her new opportunity and is dedicated to continuing the department’s efforts to improve the quality of life for Ottawa County residents.

Hambley praised Mansaray for her wisdom, empathy, and grace during her time as deputy health officer. She also noted that Uganski’s knowledge, expertise, and passion for serving the community will be valuable assets for OCDPH moving forward.
