Two men from the Los Angeles area apprehended following a robbery at an El Paseo establishment

On Monday evening at approximately 5:30 PM, a theft occurred at a business located on the 73000 block of El Paseo in Palm Desert. Two men entered the premises and concealed merchandise on themselves before leaving without paying. They then fled in a white, newer-model Lexus.

The investigation into the theft was taken over by the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team (SET) and the Palm Desert Business District Team (BDT). The suspects were located at a shopping center in La Quinta around 8:35 PM. They attempted to escape but were apprehended after a brief pursuit.

Deputies recovered stolen items, suspected stolen wine bottles, and medication from inside the suspects’ vehicle. Both men were arrested and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for grand theft and felony evading.
