Business owners in Lafayette’s Northgate Mall are optimistic about the future of the shopping center, despite the challenges it has faced over the years. Ebony Roberts, who opened a skincare business at the mall six years ago, believes that there is still potential for growth and success on the north side.
Christopher Rubin, a licensed cosmetologist at the mall, shares this sentiment. He fondly recalls when Northgate was the place to be for the north side community. Although businesses have moved to the more modern South side of town, Rubin believes that Northgate still has major potential for growth and success.
Cristal Henry, owner of Glam House, recently opened her shop at Northgate with the goal of drawing more local shoppers and businesses to the area. She joins Rubin in his belief that there is a strong sense of community and pride in preserving the legacy of the area.
Residents and business owners alike share a common goal – to revive Northgate Mall and attract more businesses to Lafayette’s north side. With its 35 shops mostly owned by local entrepreneurs, there is hope that Northgate can once again become a hub for local businesses and shoppers. The dedication and determination of those involved showcase their belief in the possibilities for growth and success on this side of town.
