News: Braxton Moody III, Prominent Acadiana Business Leader, Passes Away

Braxton “B.I.” Moody III, a prominent figure in the organization and neighborhood of Acadiana, has passed away at the age of 98. Moody, for whom the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s college of organization is named right after, had a exceptional life and profession.

Moody started his education at Rayne Higher College and went on to attend Auburn University. Having said that, his college research had been interrupted when he served in the United States Navy throughout Globe War II. Soon after the war, Moody returned to pursue his education and obtained a bachelor of science degree in accounting from then-SLI.

Soon after graduating, Moody became the founding companion of the CPA firm Moody, Broussard, Poché &amp Guidry. He also held substantial positions as the chairman of The Moody Firm and Louisiana State Newspapers Inc., each positioned in Lafayette. Moody’s involvement in the newspaper market started in 1943 when he acquired the Rayne Acadian Tribune. He continued to expand his newspaper group by acquiring other publications across Louisiana and at the moment owns and publishes 22 newspapers by way of Louisiana State Newspapers.

Apart from his contributions to the organization globe, Moody was also recognized for his philanthropic efforts and neighborhood involvement.
