The Mets have bolstered their pitching depth by claiming right-handed reliever Ty Adcock off waivers from the Detroit Tigers. Adcock, 26, struggled in Triple-A this season, posting an 8.64 ERA and 2.04 WHIP in 8.1 innings over nine appearances for both the Mariners and Tigers.
Last season, he had a 3.45 ERA, 5.17 FIP, and 0.70 WHIP in 15.2 innings over 12 appearances for the Seattle Mariners. Throughout his three-year minor league career, Adcock has a 4.62 ERA, 1.189 WHIP, and strikes out an average of 10.7 batters per nine innings across 37.0 innings pitched.
Originally drafted by the Mariners in the eighth round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Elon University, Adcock brings versatility and potential to the Mets’ bullpen. The addition of Adcock provides the Mets with another arm to call upon in relief situations as they look to strengthen their pitching staff.
Adcock was claimed off waivers from the Detroit Tigers and optioned to Triple-A Syracuse after being claimed last season.
