Richard Childress Racing announces new crew chief personnel change

Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has recently announced some competition personnel changes ahead of their upcoming race at Martinsville Speedway. Austin Dillon will be getting a new crew chief for the remainder of the season, with Justin Alexander returning to the No. 3 pit box. Alexander is taking over from Keith Rodden, who had joined RCR and the No. 3 team at the start of the 2023 season. Additionally, Joel Keller has been appointed as the lead engineer for the No. 3 team.

Martinsville Speedway holds a special significance to Hendrick Motorsports, which is the winningest Cup team in NASCAR history. The team has a strong record at this track, with past victories from drivers like Geoff, Jimmie, and now Chase Elliott.

Rodden will be transitioning to a more extensive role within RCR to help enhance the capabilities of the team’s cars. Alexander has worked as Dillon’s crew chief on multiple occasions in the past, including taking over midway through the 2017 season and guiding Dillon to a win in their first race together at the Coca-Cola 600. He also led Dillon to victory at Daytona International Speedway in 2018.
