The decision to expand the Lakewood Cancer Center was made due to the significant growth of Lakewood’s oncology team and services over the past two years. Additionally, there has been a steady increase in provider coverage, making an expansion necessary.
The state-of-the-art Cancer Center will feature 14 infusion bays, an in-house PET/CT scan machine, and other advanced facilities. Located just southwest of the clinic, it will be a significant addition to the local healthcare system. The addition of a facility like this in a rural setting like Staples is unprecedented, benefiting both patients and healthcare workers.
Among its amenities, the Cancer Center will have a dedicated reception and waiting area, with oncology case managers conveniently located within the new space for easy access to patients. This project is a significant step for Lakewood Health System and will greatly benefit the community by providing access to advanced cancer treatments and services.
The 19,270 square-foot addition will be completed by the summer of 2025 with groundbreaking scheduled for spring 2023. Lakeland News relies on support from its members to continue providing valuable content like this article.
