Kemba Walker, 4-time NBA All-Star and NCAA champion, retires from basketball

Kemba Walker, a four-time NBA All-Star and national champion at UConn, has announced his retirement from basketball at the age of 34. The 12-year professional player shared his decision to step away from the game on Tuesday.

Walker played for multiple NBA teams including the Charlotte Hornets, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Dallas Mavericks. He finished his career playing for AS Monaco in the EuroLeague. Although he is retiring from basketball, he expressed his gratitude for his journey in the sport and is looking forward to the next chapter in his life.

Known for his scoring abilities as a point guard, Walker was a highly-regarded player since high school and shone during his college years at UConn. He led the team to a national championship in 2011 as the Most Outstanding Player. During his NBA career, he made a significant impact with the Charlotte Hornets and later with the Boston Celtics.

In 12 seasons in the NBA, Walker averaged 19.3 points, 5.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game. His talent on the court earned him numerous accolades and recognition as one of the best in the game. He leaves behind a legacy as a UConn great and an all-time leading scorer for the Charlotte Hornets.
