NASCAR Cup Series Race at Nashville Superspeedway Disrupted by Inclement Weather: A Closer Look

The NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway was disrupted by inclement weather on Lap 136 of the Ally 400. A lightning delay and eventual rain caused a temporary red flag to be waved, stopping the field on Lap 137. At that moment, Christopher Bell was leading the race, with Tyler Reddick, Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski, and Chase Elliott following behind.

The top 10 also included Denny Hamlin, Chris Buescher, William Byron, Martin Truex Jr., and Carson Hocevar. The race had already seen two previous caution periods before the weather delay. John Hunter Nemechek spun at Lap 116 to cause the second caution flag, and Ty Gibbs spun ten laps later to trigger the third yellow flag.

However, it was not until a lightning delay that the race was stopped altogether. After being delayed for several minutes due to lightning strikes in the area, rain began to fall on Lap 135 of the race. As a result of this sudden change in weather conditions, officials waved a red flag on Lap 136 and brought all cars back to pit road for safety reasons.

When racing resumed after the delay, it took place at approximately 6:40 p.m. ET on NBC Sports App and PRN Radio while SiriusXM NASCAR Radio provided live coverage of the event’s progress as it continued throughout lap 140 with green-flag racing action. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as we follow its progress further into evening hours.
