The 29-year-old midfielder, Jack Payne, has recently signed a two-year contract with Colchester United. Payne’s football career began at Southend United and he played a crucial role in their success in the League Two play-offs in 2014. He later went on to sign with Lincoln City, where he spent the last season on loan at MK Dons, making 40 appearances in League Two.
Having previously worked with current Colchester United boss Danny Cowley, Payne expressed his excitement about joining the team. “I’ve worked with Danny before and we keep in touch generally,” said Payne in an interview with Colchester’s website. “When the summer came and I became a free agent, discussions started taking place.”
