On Monday, Microsoft announced that Sam Altman, co-founder and former CEO of startup OpenAI, would be joining the company to lead a new AI research team. This news comes just three days after Altman was ousted as CEO of the start-up.

Altman and Greg Brockman, co-founders of OpenAI, have been dismissed from their roles at the company. According to Satya Nadella, the owner of Microsoft, the two will join colleagues at Microsoft and continue their work in artificial intelligence (AI) research.

Microsoft has invested several billion dollars in OpenAI and has incorporated this technology into its own products, such as the Bing search engine. The first version of ChatGPT was launched on November 30, 2022, which started the race in Artificial Intelligence.

OpenAI’s board of directors surprised everyone when they announced the dismissal of Altman on Friday. They stated that he was not “consistently honest in his communications” and lost confidence in his ability to manage the company. Several people in leadership positions also announced their departure from OpenAI after Altman’s dismissal.
