Mental Health Crisis in Travis County: The Alarming Case of Keziah Titus’ Violent Episodes

The recent killing of a 21-year-old woman in Travis County has raised concerns about the lack of adequate mental health resources in the area. A 19-year-old relative, Keziah Titus, was accused of murdering the young woman inside their home in northeast Austin. Titus was subsequently arrested on murder charges following a violent episode.

In her arrest affidavit, Titus admitted to killing one family member, attempting to kill another, and planning to kill more individuals. She called 911 stating that her “mission was to assassinate somebody, but it went wrong.” Earlier in April 2023, Titus had been arrested on misdemeanor family violence charges and was released on bond within three days, with a condition of receiving mental health supervision as part of her release terms.
