Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin receives highest ratings for patient safety and experience

Mayo Clinic Health System has been honored for its outstanding patient care and commitment to safety by Healthgrades, a leading healthcare resource. Out of 830 hospitals evaluated, only 79 received both the 2024 Patient Safety and Patient Experience Awards. This accolade highlights Mayo Clinic Health System’s dedication to providing exceptional care in all aspects.

In addition to receiving recognition for overall patient experience, three Mayo Clinic Health System facilities also received individual awards. Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minnesota was recognized for its top-performing status, while Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin and Albert Lea received the 2024 Patient Safety Excellence Award. Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse and Eau Claire, Wisconsin was honored with the 2024 Outstanding Patient Experience Award. These accolades reflect the hospitals’ commitment to excellence and delivering Mayo Clinic care to their local communities.

Prathibha Varkey, President of Mayo Clinic Health System, expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the organization’s ongoing efforts to improve patient care. Hospitals receiving the Patient Safety Excellence Award are in the top 10% nationally based on an analysis of 13 patient safety indicators. This evaluation is conducted using MedPAR data to ensure hospitals meet rigorous safety standards.

The Outstanding Patient Experience Award recognizes healthcare facilities that prioritize clear and compassionate communication with patients and families. This award highlights the quality of interactions between healthcare providers and patients, as well as the facilities’ ability to understand and meet patient needs throughout their care journey. The recognition demonstrates Mayo Clinic Health System’s commitment to providing exceptional care close to home.
