Chris Mata tossed a total-game, 3-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and two walks to lead the Maui Higher College baseball group to a three- win more than Kamehameha Maui on Thursday at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.

The win lifts the Sabers to four- in the Maui Interscholastic League Division I race, whilst the Warriors fell to four-three.

Maui High’s Nick Nashiwa was the only player in the game with numerous hits, going two for two with two RBIs.

In the only other MIL baseball game Thursday, Baldwin beat Lahainaluna 7-. Kade Fujioka and Isaac Iwamura combined on the two-hit shutout, Fujioka going the initially six innings, enabling each hits, striking out 5 and walking 3.

Fujioka was also two for three at the plate and scored twice. Kuhio Aloy batted three for three for the Bears (three-1).

The Lunas fell to -7.
