Marco Odermatt continues his flawless giant slalom record in Bansko with his sixth World Cup win of the season

Marco Odermatt continues to dominate in giant slalom, claiming his sixth FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup win of the season in the discipline. The Swiss skier led the first run in Bansko, Bulgaria, by 0.35 seconds over Norway’s Alexander Steen Olsen. In the second run, Odermatt was the fastest of the late starters, crossing the finish line 0.91 seconds ahead of Steen Olsen.

This win marks Odermatt’s 10th World Cup victory of the season and puts him in a strong position to secure the overall crystal globe, with a lead of over 800 points in the standings. As he currently leads the standings in three individual disciplines and the overall competition, it is likely that Odermatt will win a third small crystal globe in giant slalom.

For Steen Olsen, finishing second in Bansko was his second podium appearance and first podium performance in giant slalom. Austria’s Manuel Feller took third place, finishing just behind Steen Olsen by 0.17 seconds.
