Youth now have a brand-new pair of diamonds to practice baseball on in the city of Manson.

Behind the efforts of the Youth Cougar Club, city of Manson, Rasch Building and numerous other people, two fields had been constructed.

Play started on the diamonds this previous Tuesday evening with a ceremony honoring these involved in the efforts to construct Cougar and Rasch Fields.

“The Youth Cougar Club identified a require to boost the region in terms of fields and facility,” Dave Pearson stated. “All we had was an old dirty field by the football field that was applied as a parking lot in the course of football games and track meets.

“So, we relocated all the things to more than by the higher college and MAC and constructed new fields.”

Pearson, who co-chairs the YCC with Brandon Bush, estimated the project price “just north of $150,000.”

“It’s going to be phenomenal,” he stated. “We have our personal designated spot and I’ve currently been driving by and seeing dads with their sons and daughters playing catch and pitching.

“It has actually revitalized baseball and softball with the youth in Manson. Seeing that power get going has been fairly specific.”

One particular of the fields was named in honor of Justin Rasch, who passed away in 2020 right after an eight-year battle with ALS. Rasch’s sons threw out the ceremonial 1st pitch, with Manson Northwest Webster Superintendent Justin Daggett and Manson Mayor Dave Anderson carrying out the exact same on Cougar Field.

“The city of Manson was a large contributor, along with the college district,” Pearson stated. “We had quite a few enterprise sponsors, neighborhood members and households donate and present labor. Rasch Building was one particular of the leading contributors to the complete project.

“It just actually is going to be incredibly specific and hopefully delivers several, several years of games to be played.”

The 1st games played featured teams from each Manson and Fort Dodge.
