On Thursday, a minor was sexually assaulted at the Museum of Science and Industry (MSI), prompting police to search for the offender. The Chicago Police Department issued a community alert for the 3rd District on April 25 regarding the assault. The incident occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the museum located at 5700 S. According to the police report, the minor was separated from her group when the offender approached her and offered help. The offender then took the minor to the second floor of MSI where she requested to use the restroom. The offender was described as a male between 30-40 years old and standing between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-3 tall with a light complexion, medium build, curly light brown hair, colored eyes, a beard, and a tattoo of a roaring lion on his neck. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a light blue shirt, blue vest, blue jeans, and black gym shoes.
A spokesperson for MSI expressed concern for visitor safety and assured cooperation with law enforcement during their investigation into this matter of great importance. If anyone has any information about this incident or suspects someone who may have been involved in this crime they are advised to contact Bureau of Detectives Special Investigations Unit at 312-491-3810/3664 immediately so that justice can be served swiftly.
