Scheduled Citizen Science Trainings for ‘Seasonal Signs’

The Signs of the Seasons citizen science project, a statewide initiative aimed at identifying and documenting cyclical and seasonal changes in over 20 indicator species crucial for understanding Maine’s changing climate, is set to begin with a series of workshops next week. These species include milkweed, butterflies, and loons.

The first training session will take place in Brunswick on April 4, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Stimpson’s Point. In Falmouth, training will begin on April 5, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center. For those unable to attend in person, a 3-part webinar will also be available.

These workshops are free of charge but registration is mandatory. To learn more about the project and to register, visit extension.umaine.edu/signs-of-the-seasons/training
