Lufthansa’s Boeing 747-8 was forced to return to Frankfurt am Main on Thursday due to an unidentifiable electrical smell in the cabin. The plane, carrying almost 340 people, was en route to Chicago in the USA when the incident occurred. Despite the smell, there was no smoke on board and the cause of the odor remains unknown.
Technicians inspected the plane upon its safe landing in Frankfurt to determine the source of the smell. The 320 passengers and 19 crew members disembarked from the plane as usual but were scheduled to continue their journey with a replacement plane later that evening.
Lufthansa emphasized that the decision to return to Frankfurt was made as a precaution to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew members.
