Buchanan County, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: Geater Machining and Manufacturing of Independence. As part of her ongoing effort to recognize and support small businesses across Iowa, Ranking Member Ernst plans to highlight a different small business in each of the state’s 99 counties this Congress.
“Over the past 61 years, three generations, and a great deal of hard work, the Geater family has built Geater Machining and Manufacturing into a remarkable small business with a global reach,” said Ranking Member Ernst. “I am proud to recognize this family and their team’s dedication to providing top quality products and supporting the next generation of high-tech leaders in Iowa.”
Geater Machining and Manufacturing is known for producing precision machines and fabricated parts for the aerospace, electronics, and high-tech industries. The company was founded in 1962 by Duane Geater and has since grown while maintaining its roots in Independence. In addition to providing excellent products, Geater Machining and Manufacturing also prioritizes giving back to the community through initiatives such as an apprenticeship program, job shadowing opportunities, academic speakers, and more.
The company’s products are used in equipment around the world, including helicopter radios used by Navy SEAL Team Six that killed Osama bin Laden. As Ranking Member Ernst continues to recognize small businesses across Iowa with her Small Business of the Week award, she remains committed to supporting these important contributors to the state’s economy.
