Local Business Owner Feels the Pinch: Struggling to Survive After Dom’s Market Closure

In the wake of the sudden closures of Foxtrot and Dom’s Market, former employees are struggling to find new jobs. Many workers rallied for workers’ rights on Friday, suspecting that Outfox Hospitality, the parent company, may have violated the WARN Act. Outfox Hospitality did not respond to requests for comment, but a message on the Dom’s Market website stated that the company had tried to explore different options to keep the business running without success.

The closures had negative ripple effects on other small and local businesses in Chicago. Corey Kaplan, owner of Corey’s Bagels, was one such business owner who was affected by the sudden closure of Dom’s Market. He supplied daily bagels, cream cheese and bagel chips to Dom’s Market which constituted his largest account. When he discovered that the doors were locked without any prior notice, he faced financial losses of at least $10,000 with little hope of being paid.

Corey Kaplan expressed his disappointment and concern for the future, stating that it has caused uncertainty and financial strain among people in the community. Despite this setback, he hopes that customers will continue to support local businesses that supplied products to these stores.
