Lions counter 49ers’ offer sheet for Brock Wright

The Lions have announced that they will be matching the restricted free agent offer sheet signed by tight end Brock Wright with the 49ers. This means that Wright will not have to leave for their NFC Championship Game opponents and will instead remain on the Lions’ roster. The deal is reportedly worth $12 million over three years, with $6 million guaranteed. This is a significant increase from the original restricted free agent tender of $2.985 million.

Wright has played in 41 games for the Lions over the last three seasons, accumulating 43 catches for 424 yards and seven touchdowns. By matching the offer, he will not have to adjust to a new offensive scheme ahead of the 2024 season. Wright will continue to team up with Sam LaPorta as the top tight ends in Tennessee. The Lions are clearly prioritizing keeping their key players on their roster and are willing to invest in Wright’s future with the team.
