Libya to Hold Simultaneous Presidential and Legislative Elections this Year: Speaker of the House Aguila Saleh Announces

The Libyan House of Representatives is set to hold simultaneous presidential and legislative elections before the end of the year, according to Aguila Saleh, the Speaker of the House. Saleh made this announcement while attending the Arab Parliament meetings in Cairo, and emphasized that Libya is ready for this important step.

He stated that discussions have been held with the State Council to establish an agreement on forming a new government. The proposed mechanism involves recommendations by 20 members of the State Council and 10 members of the House of Representatives, who would then advance to a final selection process in the House of Representatives.
