Jim Viscardi appointed as Vice President of Business Development at Image Comics

Eric Stephenson, the publisher and chief creative officer of Image Comics, has announced that Jim Viscardi will be joining the company as its VP of Business Development. Viscardi is a well-known figure in the comic book industry and has co-founded comibook.com in 2015. At Image Comics, Viscardi will report to Stephenson and help the publisher continue to foster creative independence and strategic business growth that benefits partners in the Direct Market and beyond.

Viscardi expressed his excitement about joining Image Comics and contributing to its legacy of pushing boundaries, inspiring innovation, and amplifying the voices of creators worldwide. He emphasized the importance of supporting creativity and empowering artists at Image Comics. Before joining Image Comics, Viscardi worked at Marvel Entertainment where he was involved in marketing, communications, and retailer relations. Noteworthy projects during his time at Marvel include the 2012 Avengers vs. X-Men event and the introduction of Miles Morales as Spider-Man in 2011.

Image Comics was founded in 1992 by seven top Marvel artists who wanted comic book creators to retain ownership of the characters they created. Over the decades, Image has become known for its unique titles such as Spawn, Invincible, and Saga. With Viscardi now on board, the company is likely to continue its tradition of supporting creativity and empowering artists while also bringing new ideas to the table.

In a statement, Stephenson said that he first met Viscardi around a decade ago and admired his passion for comics. Despite their paths not crossing earlier, both are now looking forward to collaborating at Image Comics.

Viscardi’s hire marks an exciting new chapter for Image Comics as it continues to grow and evolve in today’s competitive comic book marketplace.
