Joe Biden shares discussion on health check-up with Democratic Governors following debate for US Presidential Election 2024

During a meeting with over 20 Democratic governors, Joe Biden made a significant disclosure about his medical check-up following the first presidential debate against Donald Trump. The admission came as some Democrats were suggesting that Biden should drop out of the race. According to Politico, Biden, who is 81 years old, informed the governors during a private meeting that he had undergone a medical check-up after the previous week’s debate. In response to a question about his physical condition, Biden mentioned that he had a check-up and assured that he was still in good health. However, sources familiar with the discussion revealed that the check-up was conducted by a White House physician due to lingering symptoms from a cold and did not involve any major tests.

Despite this disclosure, there are still concerns about Biden’s health and re-election bid. Some Democrats have been suggesting that he should drop out of the race. However, during the meeting with the governors, all of them pledged their support for Biden’s re-election bid. Maryland Governor Wes Moore stated that Biden had their backs and would have his back as well. New York Governor Kathy Hochul also expressed confidence after the meeting, while Minnesota Governor Tim Walz highlighted the concern about the threat of a Trump presidency and emphasized their support for Biden as party leader and nominee.

The White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre avoided direct questions from reporters about whether Biden had been examined since the debate, stating that the president undergoes regular annual physicals that are released in a thorough report. Despite this statement, there are still concerns about Biden’s health and whether he will be able to carry on with his campaign for another year if elected again in 2022.
