Milei, the newly-elected president of Argentina, has expressed his commitment to supporting the agricultural sector. His government aims to eliminate taxes and reduce withholdings to benefit this crucial sector, which accounts for 70% of the country’s exports. To oversee these policies, Milei appointed Fernando Vilella, an academic and former dean of the UBA, alongside other professionals from the agricultural industry.

Vilella presented a paper detailing the necessary policies to promote growth and sustainability in the agricultural sector through the bioeconomy. The Argentine Rural Society and Confederations have expressed their support for Milei’s government and his intentions to work together to bring about significant changes in current agricultural policies. They hope to see taxes lowered or eliminated, leading to growth in Argentina’s agricultural sector in the near future.
