A Japanese climber has tragically passed away while attempting to climb one of the highest mountains in northern Pakistan, leaving search efforts still ongoing for his missing climbing partner. The climbers had set out to scale the mountain on Wednesday when they disappeared.
The Golden Peak, also known as Spantik Peak, is a popular destination for climbers due to its golden hue during sunrise and sunset. Pakistani authorities are coordinating with the Japanese Embassy in Islamabad to confirm the identity of the deceased climber, who was identified as Ryuseki Hiraoka by the Pakistan Alpine Club.
Numerous climbers lose their lives each year in Pakistan while trying to conquer some of the world’s highest mountains, including K2 in the northern region of the country. Despite this, hope remains that the missing Japanese climber will soon be found.
