Companies around the world are increasingly focusing on intelligent home heating control as a way to save energy and money. In Sweden, a company from Uppsala has developed a control system that can connect to existing heat pumps. Ngenic’s Tune system includes three modules and a mobile application, and costs just 4,490 kroner (about 400 euros) in its first year.
According to an analysis by Ngenic in collaboration with Swedish energy company Godel, the use of this technology can result in significant savings for households. The study analyzed data from 41 villas and found that these households collectively reduced their energy usage by 120,085 kilowatt hours, representing a 23% savings. Each household saved an average of almost 3,000 kilowatt hours, corresponding to savings of around 8,000 kroner or 700 euros per household.
In addition to Ngenic Tune, there are other companies offering similar services. Finnish company Kapacity.io offers a service that monitors electricity prices and weather forecasts for intelligent heat pump control. Osseous from Norway has developed a water heater that adjusts to electricity prices. Together with Swedish energy company Godel, Ngenic analyzed energy savings from the system based on detailed data from the participating households.
Kapacity.io promises annual savings of 300-500 euros on average for their software which can be used in various types of heat pumps for a monthly fee. This shows that intelligent home heating control is not only effective but also cost-effective for households looking to save money while reducing their environmental impact.
Overall, the benefits of intelligent home heating control are clear: it can help households save money and reduce their carbon footprint at the same time
