Plans are being made for the upcoming TJS event in May 2025. This international jewelry symposium, formerly known as the Santa Fe Symposium, recently held its second gathering focused on advancing jewelry manufacturing technology. The event attracted over 100 attendees, including jewelry makers, students, and specialists, who discussed critical topics and challenges related to jewelry making in the 21st century.

The seventeen distinguished speakers at this year’s TJS came from leading manufacturers and trade associations such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Platinum Guild International (PGI), and a former expert from the World Gold Council (WGC). Presentations covered both traditional jewelry crafting techniques, like pressed metal molds and guilloche ornamentation, as well as cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing (3D printing).

Attendees also had extensive networking opportunities to engage in one-on-one discussions and exchange ideas, inspirations, and best practices. Linus Drogs, chairman of the TJS board, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success: “We are delighted by the passionate response we have had to the TJS 2024 event. The hottest topic proved to be AI and how artificial intelligence will affect how we make jewelry in the future.” He further added that the industry will face similar challenges and inspirations with AI technology as it did with computer-aided design in the past.
