The T20 World Cup has just come to an end, with India emerging as the champions. To celebrate their victory, the ICC has announced a cash prize of USD 2.45 million for the winners. In addition to this, the BCCI will be awarding the winning India squad a bonus of INR 125 crore (USD 15 million approx.).
The announcement was made by Board secretary Jay Shah in a post on X, following India’s thrilling final victory against South Africa in Barbados. Shah praised Team India for their exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. He congratulated the players, coaches, and support staff for their outstanding achievement.
The ICC’s cash prize is the highest in the history of the men’s T20 World Cup, with each match won by a team earning them an additional $31,154, excluding the semi-finals and finals. Overall, all teams participating in the tournament will receive more prize money than in previous years. The total prize money for the tournament has more than doubled from USD 5.6 million in 2022 to USD 11.25 million this year, resulting in increased awards for all 20 participating teams. As runners-up, South Africa won USD 1.28 million
