LaDonna Lynn Phelps, a devoted Christian and loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Newton Falls on November 16th, 2023. She was 64 years old.
Born in Elberton, Georgia, to Leon and Lillian Reynolds Garrett on January 16th, 1959, LaDonna was the first of nine children. She graduated from Elbert County High School and later attended Athens Technical School where she earned her nursing degree.
LaDonna dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse for over three decades. She retired from her last job at Victoria House in 2021 after giving more than 30 years of unwavering service to her patients.
When she wasn’t working, LaDonna enjoyed spending time with her family and pursuing her hobbies. She was an avid crocheter, seamstress, baker, pianist, and painter. Her love for creativity was evident in everything she did.
On April 25th, 1995, LaDonna married the love of her life, Walter Phelps. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love and joy. LaDonna is survived by her mother Lillian Reynolds Garrett-Foster (Elberton), husband Walter Phelps (Newton Falls), sons Wesley Davis (Newton Falls) and Tyler Phelps (Newton Falls), daughter Julie Davis (Chattanooga), brother Keith Garrett (Elberton), sisters Saronda Garrett-Hargrove (Elberton), Sherry Garrett-Johnson (Elberton), Tammie Garrett-Morris (Blairsville)
