Pelham Memorial High School science scholars instruct Hutch students in engineering with paper airplanes

Hutchinson 4th and 5th grade students are diving into the world of engineering with the help of a partnership between PMHS Science Honor Society. Senior Sienna Giueseppi, one of the leaders of the program, is guiding younger students through the fundamentals of the field during an afterschool engineering clinic at the school.

During a recent session on March 21, Sienna and other high school students taught the younger students about aerodynamics by designing, creating, and testing paper airplanes to find models that flew for the longest amount of time and traveled the greatest distance. This hands-on learning experience is providing Hutchinson students with valuable skills and knowledge.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to our high school students for bringing this innovative program to Hutchinson and for inspiring the next generation of engineers. This collaboration between PMHS and Hutchinson is creating a unique and enriching educational opportunity for all involved. Through projects like the afterschool engineering clinic, students are able to explore their interests, develop new skills, and build connections with older peers who can serve as mentors. Together, we are fostering a love of learning and sparking creativity in our school community.
