The Center for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (C4IR) is a new unit that advises and pilots new technologies, proposing the implementation of national industrial policies. This information was shared by Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, at a conference held on April 25.
Ho Chi Minh City and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have signed a cooperation agreement to establish C4IR in Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park. This will be the second center in Southeast Asia after Malaysia in 2023 and the 19th in the world. Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan highlighted that C4IR, along with leading technology enterprises in Vietnam, will leverage the global C4IR network’s knowledge and experience, proposing solutions and policies in line with national and international technology trends.
The operating model project for C4IR is currently in the completion stage, defining the development roadmap and organizational structure. It is expected to be submitted to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City at the end of May, with a launch planned for September during the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum event. C4IR aims to connect with the global network of Industrial Revolution 4.0 Centers, applying 4.0 Industrial Revolution achievements to drive innovation and create new industries for Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam.
C4IR will operate under the autonomy of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, with a leadership team, operations division, and support sector. The leadership team includes representatives from government agencies, businesses, schools, and leading businesses implementing innovation initiatives.
The operations division will pilot new technology products and engage with stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.
The support sector will build a community, provide financial support, facilitate knowledge sharing activities.
In conclusion, C4IR is an essential step towards sustainable development for Vietnam as it brings together leading technology enterprises to propose solutions and policies that align with national and international technology trends while leveraging global knowledge and experience through collaboration with WEF.
