Helsinki Stock Exchange General Index Soars Over One Percent in Second Half Kickoff

The second half of 2024 began with strong growth in the Helsinki stock exchange, with the general index up about 1.1% at 10,050.26 points. The most exchanged share was Nordea, which saw a 1.6% increase and nearly 20 million shares traded. Solteq was the biggest gainer, up 10.1%, while Nightingale Health experienced a decline of 9.1%.

In other news, Tietoevry extended its timeline for evaluating and selling its Tech Services business to the third quarter results report on October 24. Kemira signed a contract to purchase Noritin’s reactivation business in Great Britain, marking its entry into the activated carbon market. Lemonsoft announced the acquisition of software developer Applirentin in a deal worth approximately EUR 2.3 million, while Herantis Pharma received funding from the MJFF for Parkinson’s research and Telko acquired Swed Handling in Sweden.

Cargotec split into two companies, with Kalmar starting trading on the stock exchange’s main list. Analysts predicted Kalmar to be over 40% of the total value post-split, and Kepler Cheuvreux updated its target price for Cargotec accordingly. US Index Futures also indicated a positive opening for Wall Street as the market began its day with optimism and promise for growth ahead.
