Roy Higher College didn’t have to appear far for its subsequent girls basketball head coach just after Carolyn DeHoff stepped down at the finish of the season.
The college announced Hailee Parry as its new girls basketball coach Friday. Parry teaches PE at Roy Higher.
3 spots to the proper of DeHoff’s headshot on the PE employees directory internet web page, there’s Parry’s headshot.
Not far at all.
“When this opened up, like I stated, this has been a dream of mine to be a girls basketball coach at a higher college. Exactly where I’m teaching there currently, I couldn’t pass up the chance,” Parry stated Friday.
Parry played basketball at Syracuse Higher on its 2010 state championship group and its 2011 state runner-up group, then went to USU-Eastern for two years as a point guard, redshirted at Utah Valley and completed a teaching degree at Weber State.
She worked at Syracuse Higher, South Ogden Junior and Rocky Mountain Junior as an assistant coach. Parry hasn’t coached for the final couple years but she’s been teaching at Roy.
Parry desires to engage feeder schools to attempt to enhance the quantity of players that come out for the system, which is a single challenge she sees.
“Another challenge I see is … taking more than any system that is been ran so extended by a person so amazing. I do issues distinctive, so it is going to be a bit distinctive for the girls and I just hope they’re prepared to get in,” Parry stated.
The Royals went six-16 this season and six-six in Area two. 5 of their prime scorers have been juniors or sophomores, led by Nicole Williams and Jerzee Hart.
Roy is moving from 6A to 5A subsequent season and will join Area five with Bonneville, Clearfield, Northridge and Box Elder.
