Equinor Mongstad Industrial Transformation (MIT) project has chosen GIDARA Energy’s HTW® (High Temperature Winkler) technology to be part of a feasibility study. The aim of the project is to convert solid waste and RDF into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). As part of the study, GIDARA will showcase their in-house HTW® Gasification unit, which is designed to convert solid waste feedstock into a clean syngas.
GIDARA Energy specializes in converting waste feedstocks into sustainable fuels and circular chemicals using patented technologies. Their HTW® technology generates syngas capable of producing fuels like methanol, hydrogen, methane, and bio or circular chemicals. This versatile syngas can also be used to generate heat and power, offering additional benefits to sectors looking to reduce their reliance on fossil resources and decrease carbon emissions.
Dr. Norbert Kamp, CEO of GIDARA Energy expressed excitement at the opportunity to work with Aker Solutions and Equinor on this project stating that GIDARA aims to address waste management, reduce CO2 emissions and combat climate change. The clean syngas produced will be used to create SAF through either a Fischer-Tropsch process or a methanol/ethanol-to-jet process. With this collaboration, GIDARA Energy is set to contribute significantly towards a more sustainable future by transforming waste into valuable resources while reducing environmental impact.
