The Golden State Warriors have agreed to sign former Virginia Cavaliers guard Reece Beekman on a two-way contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. After going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft, Beekman has now signed with the Warriors and will have the opportunity to prove himself on a two-way contract.
Throughout his college career at Virginia, Beekman averaged 9.5 points and 5.0 assists in 32.7 minutes per game. However, he truly shone in his final season with the Cavaliers, where he averaged 14.3 points on 44.3 percent shooting from the field. Despite being known for his scoring abilities, Beekman is also highly regarded for his defensive prowess. He has been selected to the ACC All-Defensive team three times and won the ACC Defensive Player of the Year Award twice.
Beekman’s impressive defensive ratings in his last three years at Virginia have earned him this opportunity with the Warriors on a two-way contract. With up to three players signed to two-way contracts allowed during the season, this deal gives Beekman a chance to showcase his skills and potentially earn a spot as a solid player in the NBA.
