Sky rookie Angel Reese emotional after receiving first All-Star selection

Angel Reese, a rookie for the Chicago Sky, was overcome with emotion after being named to the All-Star team. During the game against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night, she learned of her selection while standing at the podium in Georgia. She thanked everyone who supported her and credited her hard work and belief in herself for getting her to this point.

Reese finished fifth in fan voting with over 380,000 votes, while teammate Caitlin Clark led with more than 700,000. Despite Clark receiving more attention, Reese’s impressive campaign is shaping up to make the Rookie of the Year race a close one. In the win over the Dream, Reese contributed 12 points and 19 rebounds, marking her 11th consecutive game with a double-double. This achievement set a new WNBA record and showcased her remarkable talent as a professional player. With an average of 13.3 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, Reese’s impact on the court has been undeniable.

Joining Reese on Team WNBA in the upcoming All-Star game will be teammates Aliyah Boston, Dearica Hamby, and Arika Ogunbowale. While Clark may have an edge in the Rookie of the Year race for now, both players are expected to continue their strong performances throughout the season. For at least one weekend, Clark and Reese will put their rivalry aside and team up in Phoenix for the All-Star game. Reese’s well-deserved recognition as an All-Star reflects
