Noah Lyles secures spot at Paris 2024 Olympics with victory in 100m at US Olympic trials

Noah Lyles has secured his spot in the upcoming summer Olympics in Paris after winning the 100m at the US Olympic trials. This victory comes after he missed out on the 100m event in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Lyles ran an impressive time of 9.83 seconds, equaling his personal best, in Eugene, Oregon.

Notable athletes like 2019 world champion Christian Coleman also competed but missed qualification after finishing fourth. On the other hand, pole vaulter Sam Kendricks set a new meet record by clearing 5.92m, securing his spot for the Olympics. In the 400m event, 16-year-old Quincy Wilson broke his own under-18 world record with a time of 44.59 in the semi-finals, guaranteeing his qualification.

After his win, Lyles reflected on his journey and highlighted how setting and working towards goals can lead to success. The athlete’s previous bronze in the 200m event in Tokyo motivated him to strive for more, and the disappointment of missing out on gold fueled his desire to succeed.

The upcoming Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11th, with the men’s 100m final scheduled for August 4th. With his sights set on the future, Lyles remains focused and determined to achieve more in his athletic career.
