In the last week, two businesses on Wealthy Street in Grand Rapids, Michigan have been the victims of break-ins. Firstly, masked robbers tried to force entry into the front door of Wealthy Street Bakery, but were unsuccessful and eventually smashed a side window. Despite their attempts to steal cash, they left empty-handed as there was none available.
Following this incident, Good Judys Market and Juice Bar, located near Wealthy Street Bakery, also fell prey to thieves. A large piece of asphalt was thrown through their glass door, causing them to close for the day while an investigation was carried out. It is not yet clear if anything was taken from Good Judys.
Both businesses expressed their frustration at the break-ins. The Operations Manager of Wealthy Street Bakery stated that small businesses like theirs do not keep large amounts of cash on hand. The Grand Rapids Police Department is currently investigating both incidents and has not yet determined if they are linked. Residents and businesses in the area are taking precautions and being vigilant to prevent further break-ins.
