Local business faces a series of unfortunate events

Shawarmar Middle Eastern Cuisine, a small but vibrant restaurant located near Main Street in Kansas City, is facing significant challenges after an uninsured driver hit their sign and building on Christmas Eve. Despite this setback, owner Abeer Jari remains steadfast in her determination to keep her dream alive.

Jari opened Shawarmar 6 years ago, bringing the flavors of her hometown in Saudi Arabia to the local community. She runs the business with her husband, who works in the kitchen while also holding down a full-time engineering job. However, due to the damage caused by the accident and ongoing construction in the area, Shawarmar has lost business and had to cut back on employees. The broken sign creates an impression that the business is closed, significantly impacting their customer traffic.

Facing financial difficulties, Jari’s husband started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover repair costs. However, Jari encourages people to support the business by trying their food and experiencing the unique flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine. She is passionate about continuing to provide quality food and service to the community and hopes that Shawarmar will thrive for many years to come.

Despite these challenges, Jari remains optimistic and determined to keep Shawarmar operating. She believes in the quality of their food and service and invites customers to visit the restaurant and experience the unique flavors they offer. The community’s support will play a crucial role in helping Shawarmar navigate these challenging times and continue serving delicious Middle Eastern dishes.
