Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter passed away peacefully at the age of 96 in her hometown of Plains, Georgia. She was surrounded by her family during her final moments. Rosalynn, wife of former President Jimmy Carter, was celebrated as his equal partner in all of his accomplishments. Jimmy Carter praised her unwavering support and love throughout their marriage and presidency.

Rosalynn Carter had been receiving palliative care at home since May after it was revealed that she was suffering from dementia. Her husband, who also received palliative care at home with his family since mid-February, had announced last Friday that he would no longer be taking any further medical steps after a series of hospital stays. The couple married in 1946 and have four children together.

During her husband’s presidency from 1977 to 1981, Rosalynn had a significant influence on policy and advocated for social issues through various books she wrote. She left behind a legacy of advocacy and dedication to her family and the nation.

Jimmy Carter served as the US President from 1977 to 1981 and is currently the oldest living former US president. In September, he made a surprise public appearance with his wife at a peanut parade in their hometown of Plains, Georgia, which marked their enduring love for each other despite their health challenges.
